Umbria Jazz Winter #16 first day 31 December 2008 (English)
Pubblicato il 05 maggio 2009
A warm winter sun welcomed tourists and fans to the 16th edition of Umbria Jazz Winter.
The festival kicked off with a free concert in the Palazzo del popolo conference hall
but it was the group Funk Off that got the city rolling with its entertaining street parade.
Concerts throughout the day in the Palazzo dei Sette mesmerized the crowds under the Clock Tower.
A
glass of Trentino wine was enjoyed by many, while the musicians took it
in turns to perform during another unforgettable jazz dinner.
The
Gospel Harlem Jubilee Singers were the highlight of the afternoon,
performing in Orvieto's Mancinelli Theatre. Organizer, Kermes Carlo
Pagnotta apologized for Joao Jilberto's absence. The long awaited guest
artist was unable to perform due to health problems.
Stefano Bollani, Paolo Fresu and Roberto Gatto will be taking his place.
